About Me
Hi, my name is Pierre.
I am a passionate linguist, an experienced French teacher and a fluent speaker of multiple languages. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Foreign Languages and a Master's Degree in Translation, Localisation and Conference Interpreting.
Originally from France, I have lived, studied and worked in the USA, The Netherlands and Australia, having recently settled in Melbourne with my young family.
I know the thrill of learning foreign languages to excellent levels and how the impact of this skillset can open opportunities around the world. For myself, this experience has included:
- working as an accredited translator and interpreter (NAATI),
- multi-lingual marketing manager for global brands, and
- significant prior French teaching experience, including as a teaching assistant at high-school and tertiary levels.
In 2003-2004, I taught at Kalamazoo College, Michigan - a private university in the USA, where I also studied Foreign Language Teaching Methods.
Between 2007 and 2011, I taught at the Alliance Francaise de Perth, where I taught all levels, ranging from A1-C2 (DALF / DELF), which equates to complete beginner level through to advanced tertiary levels. During this time I taught at numerous high-schools in Perth, supporting their VCE level programs.
I am currently completing the requirements to return to professional teaching in Australia, via a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) (French, Spanish and English as a Second Language) at La Trobe University.
